The statue of a large fisherman with fishing rod and rat stealing a fish sits at 12 ft (3.6 metres) tall and was sculpted by Ray Lonsdale after it was donated to the people of Filey by Maureen Robinson in 2012.
It is situation next to the crazy golf course, along the promenade as is in fact names as a high tide in short wellies.

That’s it for me, I’ll see you later,
gonna wrap this catch in protective paper,
gonna face the sea with a thousand-mile stare
and wish that I was floating there.

Down on the pier I saw a man with a board
It read ‘the end is near accept your lord’.
Then underneath this some fisherman wrote
‘I can see the end from the back of my boat’.
This is wintertime.
