Filey Brigg

Situated north of Filey, Filey Brigg is a long narrow peninsula (as can be seen in the photograph) that’s main feature is the 20-metre-high sandstone & limestone cliff.

The Brigg was formed due to coastal erosion when the south side of the cliff slid down – meaning that it lied either below the sea or sea level. On a nature level, Filey Brigg is also home to many species of birds for example Purple Sandpipers and Redshanks.
