Filey War Memorial

The Filey War Memorial can be found at the entrance to the Filey Memorial Garden on Murray street, in which it is a beautiful bronze plaque that features the 72 men who sadly passed away in World War 1 and then the 53 men who passed away in World War 2.

The war memorial was built in 1921 and was unveiled to the local people on 21 May 1921 and forms an arched entrance to a memorial garden.

The World War 2 Memorial is inscribed with the following text:

In honour of the gallant men of Filey who died for their country in the great war.

Further panels have been added over time to commemorate those who fought in Korea n 1950 to 1953 and also Aden in 1964.
