The Beach Hut Landmark

The Filey beach hut landmark can be found on the main promenade, near Filey Beach and the padling pool to represent how Filey was a premier seaside destination in Edwardian times.

This is reflected in a plaque which states the following;

“This bed reflects the heritage of Filey as a premier seaside town in it’s Edwardian hey-day. At that time, people would bathe in the seas for therapeutic reasons. Traditionally a bathing hut would be drawn down to the edge of the water and the occupant would be able to step down into the water almost unseen, sparing any blushes!”

As can be seen in the photo, it is painted in blue and white and takes centre stage in a smallish rocked garden for all passers-by to enjoy.
